Owner and operator Tanya Barnett has serviced in the United States and overseas families for 20+ years. Her love for children and families has led her into various careers that have allowed her to continuously seek employment where she can assist them.
Tanya began working with children while in high school, where she took child development classes for 2 years and she worked at a local daycare center after school.
While serving in the United States Air Force, Tanya worked in a state-of-the-art Labor and Delivery unit, the OB-ICU and the Surgical clinic. She gained extensive knowledge in mother/baby care as well as care of patients with critical surgical recovery needs. Upon being honorably discharged, she worked in Labor and Delivery at Prince Georges Hospital Center and from there, she worked with cancer patients in an oncology office. She was able to give loving end-of-life care and support to patients who had end stage cancer as well as support for their families. Tanya also worked for a family physician, where she gained extensive experience working with patients in all stages of life; from newborns to the elderly. Tanya had the awesome opportunity of also working in the fast paced emergency room at Howard University as an ER technician. Her medical expertise and affectionate care was vital helping families deal with life threatening and sometimes tragic situations.
Tanya decided to become a home daycare provider upon getting married to ensure that she would be able to be home with her children. She continued her home daycare services in Germany for military families. She had the priviledge and honor of opening her home for 24hr care right after Sept. 11th to assist military members who had to work 16+ hour shifts.
Tanya's passion for supporting families and her quickness in anticipating the needs of children, provoked her to work in the Charles County Public School System. She also homeschooled her 2 younger children for a few years when their needs were not being fulfilled. She worked in the nursery of SPEAR Academy Co-op, which gave other homeschooling moms of babys the ability to teach classes to homeschoolers. She has also tutored students in her home in reading and math.
She has been a Girl Scout Troop leader for 4 years, a La Leche League leader and she is currently the Athletic Conditioner for cheerleaders at SMYA. Tanya is a licensed day care provider and she holds a Healthcare Provider CPR card, Sports Safety First Aid card and other safety certifications.
She lives in southern Maryland with her husband and 3 children.
